Since launching VISION 2025, we’ve been actively praying and planning towards a church plant in Brisbane. There have been many steps forward and a few steps back along the way, however, the Lord has been so good opening doors and paving a way. When we first announced plans to plant in Salisbury / Moorooka, we didn’t quite expect it to be another year before the plant could begin to meet. But the Lord’s timing is perfect!
During this time, God has been gathering a faithful team in Brisbane who have been meeting weekly to pray and keep stepping forward. It has also been wonderful to have the support and partnership of our Archbishop and bishops. We’ve sought to be open to God’s will and adapt our plans.
Today, it’s a great joy to share that we have appointed Dr Robert Edwards (Deputy Principal of BST) as our Church Plant Coordinator (Lay Minister). In this capacity—along with the team in Brisbane—Robert will begin leading weekly services of morning prayer. This will be a great way for the plant to get going whilst we continue to advertise for a Church Planter. We’re also delighted that we’ll be using some space at the Anglican Early Learning Centre in Salisbury — the site where the last Anglican church in that suburb once stood! Please join me in giving great thanks to God, praying also that many will come to put their trust in the Lord Jesus through this new community, that the team will be equipped with every good gift, and that many will be built up in the faith.
