Farewell to Michael and Rachel Calder

April 2, 2023

It’s with a real sadness but also genuine excitement that we today farewelled Michael and Rachel as they leave St Bart’s to begin a new season of ministry at St John’s, Wishart. We’re so sad to see them go (we’ll miss them so much!) — but also very grateful for the years that we’ve shared in Gospel partnership. Over the five years that Michael has served at St Bart’s, I’ve counted it as a great privilege to serve alongside him. I’m also thankful for the Gospel fruit that the Lord has brought about through him, continually growing him. It’s been a joy to share in the diversity of ministry together, witness his growth (having first served as an intern for two years at St Bart’s), celebrate in his ordination, and also be benefactors of his teaching, leadership, ministry, care, and service. It of course has also been a great privilege and joy to welcome Rachel as they were married last year.

Of course, whilst it’s sad to say goodbye, we also recognise—in God’s kindness—that we continue Gospel partnership in a new way from slightly further afield! I know as a church, we’re deeply grateful for the time we’ve had with Michael and Rachel and also share a deep sense of now sending them as they seek to faithfully follow God’s continued leading. Please join with me in giving great thanks to God for Michael and Rachel, along with praying for them as they begin a new season of Gospel ministry at Wishart.
