Mission Prayer Points - Chappy Phil

June 27, 2025

Prayer Points for Phil Bryce, serving as Chaplain at Gabbinbar  State  School

1) Praise God for the opportunity Phil has to serve Him at Gabbinbar SS. Pray that the chaplaincy service will continue in the state school system and will find much favour.

2) Pray that Phil will be able to apply early intervention, emotional support or pastoral care with skill and wisdom to assist an increasing number of students with complex needs

3) Pray for Phil's early morning walk-throughs to chat with staff, establishing relationships and trust with staff. Please pray that Phil will approach staff with compassion, being sensitive to the Holy Spirit's promptings.  Christian staff are asking for prayer too.

4) The Chappy Room continues to be open during most lunch breaks and this remains a general expectation of school administration. The number of students attending has grown & sometimes the Chappy Room is at capacity with 60+ students. Please pray that the Chappy Room will remain a safe haven for students, a place of connection, conversations and fun. Phil's strategy of adding and rotating new resources seems to be working.

5)  Chappy Week was from June 1st - 8th. Chappy Week presented an opportunity to shine a spotlight on the school's chaplaincy service and to do some in-school fundraising. Two in-school fundraisers were approved - a Free Dress Day and a Penny Skateboard Raffle. Both fundraisers were very successful with about $550 raised. Gabbinbar has embraced another in-school fundraiser as the school has gifted the chaplaincy Ash Barty tennis racquets for the next chappy raffle. Praise God for this fundraising interest & support.

6)  The Frontline Chaplaincy Dinner was held on June 9th and concluded Chappy Week. $45K was raised. Praise God for this major boost to the Toowoomba Region's chaplaincy account, please thank God for many generous supporters!

7) Give thanks and praise that Phil has had the opportunity to speak at school parades, support excursions and has been included in special days and key events. Give thanks that Phil has received encouraging feedback from staff. Praise God for these opportunities.

8) The previous format of the Local Chaplaincy Committee has been changed and refreshed to a Chaplain Support Team. This change enables anyone to share in the chaplaincy story. Pray for this new format and committee to flourish.
