In response to the earthquake that has claimed over 28,000 lives, Anglican Overseas Aid have set up a Rapid Response Emergency Fund.
The World Health Organization estimates up to 23 million people could be affected by the earthquake. The situation is particularly dire in Syria, where the UN says nearly 70% of the population needed humanitarian assistance before the quake — an issue that has only been compounded by the tragedy.
Thousands of buildings collapsed in both countries and there are significant concerns for northwestern Syria, where more than 4 million people were already relying on humanitarian assistance.
Please be praying for God's peace to rest on those who have lost loved ones, for strength for the recovery teams, and that Christians in these areas would be active in helping to point to God's grace.
