Genesis is not only the beginning of the Bible but also lays the foundation for our understanding of who God is, God's plan for the world, and our part in his story. We have approached Genesis in three parts. Part one (Genesis 1–11) unpacks the beginnings of God's grace in creation, in the making of humanity, and in his response to the fall. Part two (Genesis 12–25) focuses on God's faithfulness through the calling of Abraham. Part three (Genesis 26–50)—this eight-week series—traces how God's promises are carried forward through the generations of Isaac, Jacob and Joseph. Despite the repeated failings of his people, along with family rivalry, deception, and suffering, we see that God's sovereign purposes prevail, and that he is still at work in our lives today.
